Slyderz Baseball is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to using baseball to address and reduce at-risk behaviors for youth in the City of Richmond.
We believe that baseball is a microcosm of life. We have identified the correlations between life's transitions and the natural progression in youth baseball to prepare young men to overcome the challenges they will face as young adults similar to how we prepare them to overcome the challenges of transitioning to the "BIG" field.
We strive to level the playing field in all aspects of life to create brighter futures for our youth and better outcomes within our communities.
Slyderz Baseball Inc. was founded in 2018 by Richmond native, Carl Smith. Carl has served in his community for several years by coaching and leading athletic organizations targeting inner-city youth. In this role, he sees first-hand the need for additional support systems and resources to ensure that all children are able to grow, thrive, and be successful.
We believe that youth involvement in sports is not just about creating athletes; but, that lessons learned on the baseball field can be used to nurture educational and character development essential to ensuring success on and off the playing field.
